About the Artist
Janette Walmsley
I started sketching and drawing at the age of nine but did not get into using colour until my early twenties.
I started fabric painting on T-shirts and selling them.
I was introduced to folk art in 1990 and after four lessons my life was changed.
Within a few months I was selling my work and teaching others.
I moved to Papua New Guinea in 1992 and continued selling and teaching Folk Art.
In PNG I started painting PNG landscapes on to cards.
As these became very popular, I was commissioned to paint PNG landscapes onto Canvas.
Over the years I have researched, read books, watched DVD’s, taken lessons and worked at enhancing my artistic skills.
I have more recently ventured into acrylic pour. Although I am not an abstract artist, I love the way the colours move and flow together. It is easy and relaxing.
I thank and praise God every day for my talants.
